Bastian Schwind’s work consciously breaks with the precision and exactness inherent in photography. He perceives photography as a playground for a wide variety of media and materials. Through fluffy color cards, pasted poster sculptures or amateurish lead glazing depicting photographic or photo-technical motifs, the photographic aspect is playfully explored and is tested again and again.
The central question is: How far can you go and still call it photography? Despite all the translation and transformation, the works always remain committed to the analog way of working.
